Dental veneers
Dental veneers are thin ceramic sheets designed to visibly improve the appearance of your teeth, successfully completing treatment with aligners or correcting pre-existing defects.
What are dental veneers?
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
Dental veneers are thin ceramic sheets designed to visibly improve the appearance of your teeth. We use veneers either as the final step of orthodontic treatment with aligners, or to correct pre-existing defects, such as: stained teeth that cannot be whitened, chipped teeth, interdental spaces, irregularly shaped teeth, etc.
Due to advances in dentistry and technology, dental veneers have evolved to become very durable as well as extremely natural looking. Today, you can enjoy a wide smile, thanks to dental veneers that perfectly imitate the strength and appearance of natural teeth!
The benefits of dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
There are many benefits brought by the treatment with dental veneers, including:
- They protect and extend the life of the natural teeth on which they are applied, because the natural dentition will no longer be exposed to factors that can affect its integrity or appearance;
- The veneers are very well tolerated by the gums, thanks to the biocompatible materials from which they are made;
- Does not sensitize the teeth;
- They considerably improve the appearance of the teeth, covering, for example, discolored teeth;
- Protects teeth from wear;
- Improve the function of mastication;
- I restore self-confidence;
- The treatment is not painful;
- They are very resistant, and can be kept for up to 10-15 years with proper care.
The types of dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
There are several types of dental veneers, which differ primarily according to the material from which they are made. Thus, the main types are ceramic veneers (emax) and zirconium veneers (more precisely, zirconium oxide). At the same time, there are also composite veneers.
Also, veneers can be classified according to the method of application: with or without preparation. In the first case, the tooth on which the veneer is applied is ground approximately 0.3 mm, to be uniformly “dressed” by the veneer.
Zirconium dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
Zirconium dental veneers are stronger and more opaque and can better cover the color defects of the underlying teeth, especially when they are treated endodontically (devitally). They do not stick to the tooth and can be detached from it more quickly. Zirconium veneers have the highest fracture resistance, being superior to both feldspathic and emax ceramic veneers, being indicated when masticatory forces are high.
Zirconia veneers do not allow the transmission of light and the dark color of the supporting tooth. With such veneers, a much lighter final shade of teeth can be obtained, an immaculate and brilliant white: Bleach shade, the whitest white.
Ceramic dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
Emax ceramic dental veneers are more translucent, brighter and have a more natural appearance. In addition, they can be fixed with adhesive, so that they form a common body with the tooth. They are indicated on vital teeth. However, if your teeth are too yellow, you will not be able to achieve an immaculate white smile with ceramic veneers. Emax ceramic veneers have superior aesthetics and can be glued to the tooth, increasing the global strength of its crown by up to 25%. They are more suitable for small, symmetrical and singular preparations. They can be made in thicknesses from 0.3 to 0.8 mm, being also indicated as “prepless veneers” in particular situations (small, dwarf, conical teeth).
Composite dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
Dental veneers made of composite are not a recommended option! They can be used for demonstration or temporary purposes, but they do not bring any long-term advantages, neither from an aesthetic point of view, nor from a practical point of view, because they do not maintain their appearance and stain quickly.
Dental veneers price
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
The price range of dental veneers varies, usually depending on the type used. To this price are added the other costs associated with the procedure itself. The total amount you will pay depends on several factors, including: the dentist’s expertise, the number of veneers, the type and extent of preparation work required, the material of the veneer.
Although the price of dental veneers may seem high, it is actually a long-term investment in your dental health. What’s more, opting for veneers can actually help you save. Why? Veneers cover and protect teeth and can reduce the need for future procedures or the risk of complications caused by external factors.
Adult dental veneers
Dental veneers - Types, Benefits, Price
Most adults already know how they want their teeth to look, but when it comes to dental veneers, we advise them to opt for preliminary testing of the result, through Smile Design.
Dental veneers increase the thickness and length of the teeth, as we perceive them with the lips and tongue, and the provisional ones (mock-ups) help patients evaluate the situation, both from an aesthetic point of view and from the perceived sensations.< /p>
