Fast and Fixed

Fast and Fixed Dental Implant

The Fast and Fixed dental implant is a system designed for elderly patients ( over 65 years !!! ) to be able to receive a complete fixed set of teeth in a very short period of time.

The Fast and Fixed dental implant is a system that assumes that, in a single day, the patient receives a complete set of teeth. The procedure requires the insertion of only 4 dental implants in the mandible and 6 dental implants in the maxilla. The procedure is done without bone addition and/or sinus lift intervention, which have a higher risk in elderly patients with poorer general status and multiple associated therapies.

With the classic method, the patient had to wait 4-6 months for bone integration, without having a tooth during this time. In the case of the Fast&Fixed implant, the patient goes home with the temporary dental work. Then he comes back for a check-up and after 6 months he receives the final ceramic dental crowns.

  • Who can benefit from the Fast and fixed implant?

    Fast and Fixed dental implants are recommended for patients:

    • who have total edentence or have few teeth left on the arch;
    • who want a functional denture, fast, obtained in 24 hours and that looks and functions exactly like a natural one.
    • who want to get rid of the dental prosthesis and the inconveniences created by it;
    • who have irretrievably destroyed teeth and can no longer be treated;
    • who do not want to go through complex and complicated interventions, thus reducing the waiting time;
    • suffering from periodontosis.

    This type of treatment is not recommended for young people, 30-40-50 years old, whose life expectancy is high and whose masticatory forces are too high for such a small number of implants. These patients should be treated using the classic method, with several implants able to ensure a longer life of the final prosthetic work.

  • What are the stages of inserting the Fast and Fixed implant?

    At the first consultation, the patient is diagnosed based on the panoramic radiograph, blood tests and computer tomography in order to establish the treatment plan. These investigations are necessary because they show the quality of the bone and the position of the nerves and sinuses and the general state of health.

    Then, with the patient’s consent, the doctor draws up the treatment plan (estimating time and costs).

    Insertion of the implants takes place in the morning. On the day of the intervention, the provisional work is done in the laboratory after the impressions taken by the doctor both before and immediately after inserting the dental implants.

    In the evening, the patient can return to the office to fix the temporary work that is perfectly functional and has a beautiful aesthetic appearance. It does not have to be removed to be cleaned after meals, being fixed in the implants by screwing.

    Provisional dentures look and feel like natural dentures, they are made of acrylic material and reinforced with metal for added strength. Being a rigid structure, it allows the osseointegration of implants, even if masticatory forces are applied to them.

  • Stage 1 – Surgical intervention and attachment of the temporary work

    The surgical intervention takes place. Under local anesthesia and eventual analgesia, the patient does not feel pain or other discomfort neither during nor after the operation.

    The teeth that can no longer be treated are removed and 4 dental implants are inserted into the mandibular bone and 6 dental implants into the maxillary bone, the front ones straight and the back ones angled at 45 degrees, to avoid delicate anatomical formations (nerve mandibular, maxillary sinuses).

    After the dental implants have been inserted, the gum is reshaped and an impression is made for the provisional work.

    After the intervention, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs are also administered, so that the symptoms and edema are greatly reduced.

  • Stage 2 – Healing

    After approximately 4-6 months (during which the dental implants have comfortably integrated into the body and only periodic checks have been performed), the patient returns to the office to have the definitive prosthetic work done:

    • metal-ceramic dental crowns;
    • ceramic crowns on zirconium, etc;
    • titanium works with zirconium crowns.
  • How is Fast & Fixed dental work maintained?

    After making the implant, during 48 hours, a soft surgical toothbrush must be used, so as not to damage the gum.

    In the next 5-10 days, it is recommended to use mouthwash with chlorhexidine after each brushing.

    Whether it is a prosthesis or natural teeth, effective hygiene contributes to beautiful and healthy teeth in the long term.

    The Fast&Fixed implant must be professionally cleaned at least once every 6 months, just like natural teeth.

    As for food, there are no major restrictions, but vicious habits should be avoided such as:

    • smoking (because nicotine affects the efficient integration in the bone system, respectively healing after surgery);
    • redness of hard objects (pens);
    • breaking hard fruits between the teeth (walnuts, pistachios);
    • opening the corks with the teeth.
    • gnashing of teeth.
  • What are the advantages of the Fast and Fixed dental implant?

    Unlike the traditional dental implant, the Fast and Fixed implant offers patients undeniable benefits:

    • possibility of resuming social life as soon as the patient leaves the office;
    • quick accommodation with the provisional work;
    • correct articulation of words;
    • fast integration into the body;
    • stability of the provisional dentition by screwing into the dental implant;
    • fixing the work strictly by implants (which can only be unscrewed by the dentist) without support and damage to the gum.
    • eliminating the risk of tooth decay under the work.
  • What are the disadvantages of the Fast and Fixed dental implant?

    Besides the many advantages, this type of implant also has some disadvantages:

    • Although it has a much more advantageous price compared to traditional implants, it is still significant for many patients.
    • During the period when the patient has the temporary fixed denture, it must be properly maintained (both through rigorous hygiene at home and by following the rules of soft food and careful chewing).
    • The patient’s strict non-compliance with the postoperative indications may lead to the loss of one or more implants in the first 3 months.
    • If the insertion indication is not respected, i.e. the treatment is applied to young patients, the survival rate of implants is much lower than at age 3, because masticatory forces are much higher.
    • Inserting rapid dental implants cannot be performed in any office, as this procedure involves specialist knowledge, specialist OMF surgeons and special medical and laboratory equipment.

Titanium thimble works with individualized zirconium crowns

Dental crowns made of zirconium on a titanium structure are the most beautiful, most natural and durable works on dental implants!
They look and behave when masticating exactly like natural teeth.

The advantages of Thimble work in titanium with full zirconia crowns

  • Revolutionary combination of the exceptional properties of titanium and zirconium;
  • High resistance and perfect adaptation thanks to advanced milled titanium structures;
  • Lightness and reduced weight compared to metal-ceramic works (they weigh about 50% of the weight of metal-ceramic structures);
  • Flawless aesthetic appearance and translucency similar to natural teeth thanks to zirconium crowns;
  • The possibility of replacing the crowns thanks to the design preserved in digital format;
  • Hiding screw holes under crowns for a flawless look.

Disadvantages of Titanium Thimble Works with Full Zirconia Crowns

The disadvantage associated with these definitive prosthetic works is their high cost compared to other available options. However, the investment is justified by the long-term benefits it provides to patients.

Thimble type titanium structure works offer the satisfaction of a final work of the highest quality that lasts over time. Thus, patients obtain an excellent and sustainable result, which justifies the financial investment.

An informed and responsible choice is the key to successful oral rehabilitation treatment and lasting satisfaction. To get a comprehensive insight into the particularities of these definitive prosthetic works, see this article</a >.

Metal-ceramic works

Metal-ceramic works are a classic option for oral rehabilitation, being chosen due to the cost and satisfactory aesthetic appearance.

The advantages of metal-ceramic works

  • Lower cost, compared to other types of prosthetic work;
  • Combines the resistance offered by the metal structure with the aesthetic appearance of ceramics;
  • Classic production technology, ensuring resistance and adaptation on implant abutments;
  • Look similar to natural teeth thanks to the ceramic layer.

The disadvantages of metal-ceramic works

  • There is a risk of the appearance of a visible transition line between the gum and the crown as you get older, due to gingival retraction;
  • There is a risk of chipping or damage to the ceramic component during chewing, as patients have a stronger bite on implants than on natural teeth.

Prosthetic works on polymer structures such as PEEK or BioHPP, with composite crowns

In the Fast and Fixed implant system, patients have the opportunity to opt for definitive prosthetic work on polymer structures such as PEEK or BioHPP, with composite crowns or fully plated with composite.

These innovative materials offer some major benefits, but there are also important drawbacks to consider.

The advantages of PEEK or BioHPP polymer structures, with composite crowns

  • Low weight, providing comfort and reducing mechanical stress on the implants;
  • Suitable for short implants or in case of poor bone quality;
  • Suitable option for patients who are sensitive to metals or who want to avoid complications associated with them.

Disadvantages of PEEK or BioHPP polymer structures with composite crowns

  • Instability regarding color, being sensitive to extrinsic dyes, thus affecting the aesthetics of the teeth in the long term;
  • They cannot be repaired;
  • Higher cost, compared to metal-ceramic works.

Conclusions

A beautiful smile changes your mood! The specialist doctors of the EXCEDENT Clinic can provide you with all the details you need for an informed decision that can change your life for the better.

In many cases, the cost of endodontic, periodontal and prosthetic treatments to recover the last remaining teeth is not justified by a favorable long-term prognosis, saving them only having a psychological motivation.

If you can overcome the psychological impact of the extraction of the last remaining and irretrievable teeth, you can enjoy the long-dreamed-of smile in just 24 hours with the help of the Fast&Fixed system, made in the EXCEDENT Clinic on Zimmer or Bredent dental implants!

The professionalism of the doctors and the state-of-the-art facilities of our clinics make the difference! The implant systems used guarantee the greater longevity of our restorations, compared to those on Korean or Israeli implants that are always “on sale”.

In the last year, the number of rehabilitations carried out at the EXCEDENT Clinic has increased after failures in other clinics, precisely as a result of the fact that patients are increasingly aware of the fact that the “economy” achieved by choosing cheap solutions has led to accelerated bone loss, malfunctioning prosthetic work and much more trouble than they imagined. We restored everyone’s joy and hope, through well-done interventions, with easy recovery, completed with aesthetic and functional prosthetic works!

The Fast and Fixed system changes the lives of all patients who choose the EXCEDENT Clinic for the better!
