Apical Resection

Apical resection is a procedure carried out after the endodontic treatment. It implies removing the apical part of the dental root and the neighbouring bone that is affected by a pulpar disease outside the endodontic area. This way, the tooth can stay longer on the arch.

What teeth can be saved by apical resection?

The procedure can be carried out on any teeth, with the exception of the second molar, due to difficulties in reaching the posterior side of the arches.
